When veneered and painted, these machine-made chests look quite attractive, and you might be tempted to buy them off the racks for their moderate price. But, remember that these are not antique in any way, and can never contain the grandeur and beauty of antique chest of drawers. These do not have any resale value too and neither do they last as long as real antique furniture pieces.

When buying one, you must insist on a certificate and check the manufacturer’ credibility, code, brand name and reputation before paying up. These are expensive pieces of furniture and you must take care to spend your money on real quality and nothing else.

Why are they expensive? 

Authentic antique furniture can cost you some money as they are made of superior wood types and are predominantly hand crafted and polished. As opposed to the fragile plastic fixings that modern day furniture uses, these units would be hand cut and pegged together manually with glue. The result is always an enhanced visual appeal and high-class durability.

Antique chest of drawers must ideally be placed in a location which does not receive direct sunlight, heat or moisture. A little maintenance can go a long way in protecting its beauty and integrity for ages.
